30 Apr 2013: ICC appoints new Chair of the Digital Economy Commission
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph Alhadeff as the new Chair of the ICC Commission on the Digital Economy. Having served as Vice-Chair since May 2002, Mr Alhadeff will take over from Herbert Heitmann, Executive Vice-President of External Communications at Royal Dutch Shell, who will be stepping down from the post during the commission’s summer meeting in Paris.

Gemalto, world leader in digital security, today announced that its Sealys ID Motion smart card software dedicated to national government programs has received "Common Criteria EAL7 certification". EAL7, or Evaluation Assurance Level 7, represents the highest level of security assurance within the international security evaluation scheme, also known as Common Criteria.

24 May 2013: WTO announces agenda for Fourth Global Review of Aid for Trade
The WTO announced on 23 May 2013 the agenda for the Fourth Global Review of Aid for Trade to be held at the WTO on 8-10 July. The theme of this year’s event is “Connecting to Value Chains”. The review will focus on the development implications of the global expansion of production chains and will examine how Aid for Trade can help developing countries enter and move up value chains.

23 May 2013: Commission proposes upgrade for 300 key seaports
The European Commission has today launched a new initiative to improve port operations and onward transport connections at 319 key seaports along Europe’s coastline. The guidelines and legal changes being proposed will help port operators upgrade their services and facilities as well as giving them more financial autonomy.

ICC has published a collection of standards to help border authorities determine a standardized definition of a diligent trader. 16 May 2013: WTO General Council appoints Azevêdo as next Director-General,
At a special meeting on 14 May 2013, the General Council approved the appointment of Ambassador Roberto Carvalho de Azevêdo (Brazil) as the next Director-General of the WTO. He begins his term of office on 1 September 2013. Director-General Pascal Lamy pledged to work closely with Ambassador Azevêdo in ensuring a smooth transition.
